"Cây tre trăm đốt" translating "Bamboo tree with one hundred parts"
This is one of a Vietnamese fairy tale. Once upon a time, there was a poor boy who worked for his boss, his boss told him if he worked well, he'll let his daughter marry him. He really wanted to marry her so we worked very hard. He worked by himself and the boss don't have to find more slaves just only him. He worked hard because he wanted to marry the boss's daughter. Day by day, he worked and worked and he never sick. Many years later, the boss let his daughter marry to a rich boy and the poor boy was very mad. The rich boy is very show-off, evil and selfish. Then, he asked the boss why did he broke the promise between them? He said because he's so poor and that wasn't really true. He made a deal that if he can find a bamboo tree with 100 parts, he will let him marry his daughter. So the poor boy went to the forest to find it, but he kept finding but there's just only a bamboo tree with 40 parts at least. He sat down feeling hopeless and cried. The fairy appear and asked him why did he cried. The poor boy told the fairy all of the story and he told him to cut 100 parts.Then he told him if he said "put in together"it's will automatically turn to a bamboo tree with 100 parts and if he said "apart, apart" the bamboo tree will turn into 100 parts. He tried then it's work. He went back to the boss house, everyone who invited to the wedding was there. He went into the middle of the yard and lined up the 100 bamboo tree parts straight and said "put in together" it's turned to a tall bamboo tree. The boss was so suprised and he went closer, he was stuck on the bamboo tree, people looked at him and laughed, the rich boy and his dad went closer to help the boss but they got stuck too. Then, the boss told the poor boy to let him down and he promise will let them marry each other. He said "apart, apart" and the bamboo tree turned into 100 parts.After that, the poor boy and the boss's daughter live happily ever after.Characteristics that show this story is a fairy tale:
- The good guy got to married the boss's daughter not the rich boy.
- Began with "Once upon a time" and end with "happily ever after"
- The poor boy beat the rich boy.
- Magical bamboo tree with 100 parts.
- There's a fairy.
